My goal was to find a sturdy but lightweight carry-on to avoid, or try to avoid, paying for a second checked bag on a trip to the UK I try to make twice a year. When my airline went from $70 to $100 per second bag, it was time to do some serious research. After a lot of analysis, I settled on the Antler Liquis 22". It is superb---lightweight and sturdy, just as I needed, but big enough to carry lots of stuff. I think it weighed about 30 pounds when I got done packing, and I DID avoid baggage charges (although your results may of course vary). I liked the built-in TSA-friendly lock that connects to the zippers, too---a clever touch. It's a "spinner", which means you can turn it 360 degrees, not just pull it in one direction. It's not inexpensive, but it has already come close to paying for itself on ONE roundtrip. Highly recommended!!!
