My husband and I have purchased three sets of Hartmann luggage prior to this purchase of both the 27" and 22" Stratum bags. Because of the quality construction and good looks of past luggage, I decided to purchase my husband these two bags as a gift. I guess I should have realized "you get what you pay for"; this luggage is just not what I expected. The information about it on Amazon said "ballistic nylon with leather accents". To be sure the trim was leather, I checked the Hartmann website also. I quote: "The fabric styles are trimmed with handsome top-grain leather." Intended to mislead, this does not mean the trim is leather! It is vinyl and cheap looking. Only the name tag is leather. Really, Hartmann, really Amazon... I see the description on Amazon has changed since my purchase to reflect these facts (thank you, Amazon!), although Hartmann continues to mislead. Oh well, live and learn. I would have returned this luggage, but we were leaving town the next day and my husband didn't want to bother- The navy color is nice, and we'll see how it holds up. Guess we'll see how it holds up. In the mean time, when I need well-made and attractive luggage, I'll go back to using one of the old sets which ARE ballistic nylon and actually trimmed in leather!
