We not only have a set of these bags for ourselves, but we give them as wedding gifts to really good friends and have them embroidered with their last name. This piece as well as all the other Dakine Luggage is strong, durable and stylish, can't say a bad thing about it.

The bag is adequate for my needs but does not match the tattered bag I'd hoped to replace. For one, it has entirely soft sides and, if not full, collapses in on itself. It also doesn't have a large outside pocket to put folders and magazines in. There is no strap or divider inside to contain the contents. It barely meets my needs. The wheels are sturdy and the handle, as well.

I know DaKine and their people well but I don't have a bias, having poor opinions of some of the many products I've used through the years. This bag I have to say I love though. I got a great deal on mine and thought the plaid looked cool (being a Scotsman and all :). The bag has a solid platform and I like the soft sides that others complained about - packs better into cramped spaces that way. The handle is easy to operate and seems like it will last through extensive use - the 'T' handle someone complained about must be on an older model. It has a zippered net inside, removable velcro'd padded liner, and the outer zippered pockets are deep with the bigger one fitting standard notebooks or binders easily. I like the handles to carry it horizontally as well as vertically in addition to the lockable pull-out extension, and I know for a fact the folks at DaKine would readily fix anything I happened to tear or break. On the downside things shift to the bottom easily when you pack a light load, but I'd expect that and am not a fan of the velcro straps some bags have to try to avoid that problem (which stretch and wear out or just plain break too easily). With a year of extensive use (almost daily) I'm happy with my purchase and still confident in the quality and durability of this bag. A previous no-name bag tore a wheel out easily, and I don't expect that to happen here (or I'll have another reason to visit Hood River).
