5Great bag...can still be improved
By philfr0212
Summary: B&R has earned my loyalty through over 1M miles of travel, the best warranty on the market, and great service. This bag continues to impress even though it could use some small improvements.I had a predecessor to this B&R bag for about 10 years. To talk about this new model I have to talk about the old one. It was a great bag. Fit in just every airline bin, traveled about 1M air miles and all the taxis, hotels, and buses in between. The suit carrying mechanism was different (a separate zippered compartment) and was roomy enough to stuff a couple suits, shirts etc into it. During that time I made use of B&R's no-questions, easy-to-use, lifetime warranty about three times - zipper pulls, handle, and wheel replacement. When it was time to buy another I did my research and, considering the past performance, and great service on top of the best warranty, I opted for the one-touch expandable.Pluses- the one touch works very well - very easy to use on the fly when I've decided to not check my bag and had to squeeze it down to carryon thickness - or do the opposite.- durable construction makes it double as an upright seat in a crowded airport (let's say that I weigh 80 kg)- open bin design allows for my own packing methodology- mesh pocket good for separates/soiled clothes- zip pocket good for misc- removable suiter system is decent and I can easily fit 1 suit, 1 sportcoat, and three or four shirts in it (depends on how much more I am taking).- it's a tough overall bag - this new one has about 250K air miles on it so far- fits in most jet bins (see below), on European, Chinese, and Japanese train overheads, in small taxi trunks and under seat 3D on the Embraer ERJ170 regional (best seat in the economy house).Needed Improvements- can sometimes be difficult or impossible to fit head-on in some airline bins when other similarly sized bags don't have the problem. Sorry but I have not been keeping track of which types of jets it has the problem with - note to self. Seems to be due to the length of the standing legs. Fitting sideways is no problem obviously. It's predecessor did not have this sometimes-problem.- the suiter trifold design and hanging system does not work perfectly with standard hanger heights (noted by a prior reviewer). This is not an insurmountable issue as when after zipping it up I just 'scoot' the hangers up toward the top of the bag (laying it flat first) and then easily fold it up. It does leave me longing for hangers with shorter hook-to-shoulder distances though. Clothes stay neat and in good shape as I put each grouping in separate 11 gal trash bags (hanger through the closed end) to keep them from getting too wrinkled. The separate suiter is more confined than the predecessor's design but this is not a problem. If you have to have a reliable bag for world travel, and like the thought of getting over 1M miles and 10 years out of it then buy this bag!

5Great bag
By ch40
As a business traveler, I had an odd assortment of 2nd rate bags in a variety of sizes. My goal was to replace them with as few good bags as possible and i decided on Briggs and Riley after much research. The 21" One Touch is very versatile because it expands about another third in size. It is a little heavy due to the one touch mechanism but I flew with it fully packed this week and was able to lift it over my head to stow it on the plane with no trouble. I stowed it on a variety of planes and it had to be put in sideways on the regional planes, which is understandable. On two non regional flights, it didn't stow feet in 1st so the feet make it a little too long on some airlines. What I found out on the last leg of my trip is that it may fit handle in 1st due to the shape of the storage bins but I didn't have the opportunity to try it. Since my husband travels too, I purchased a 20" wide expandable as an alternative. Although it's not a one touch, it expands.quite a bit and is lighter -- with about the same amount of packing space and better stowability. The quality and features In both are excellent and they are easy to maneuver. The stretchy, mesh panels are the best I've seen for holding things in place and the bag has a vinyl lined snap in bag that is perfect for storing your 1 qt bag of liquids after going through security. Note: the advantage of the one touch vs the typical expandable is it can be expanded empty so you can put crushable items in it without worry etc. The typical zipper expandable has to be filled with items to expand fAmazon service's service was excellent.

5Carry-on Perfection!
By MellonC
Let's start with the important part. It fits the metal sizers at the airport gate. I went to the Burbank airport and tried on sizers at Southwest, Alaska, US Air and United (TSA guys looked at me funny) No problem with any of them. The actual overhead bin may be bigger but you must fit the sizers these days to avoid the fee! just so you all know, the actual exterior dimension is (I measured it three times) is 9.5 inch depth, 22 3/4 inch height (call it 23 inches if you include the leather handle), and 14.5 inch wide including wheels. This is with clothes packed full in the main compartment and with a suit in the suiter. But nothing in the front pockets. YMMV. ............. Oh and the suiter. I had a problem with the 20 inch carry-on's because I couldn't fit my suit jacket in there flat (size 44 L). There is just enough in this bag to do just that. ---------- The best part: You can cheat a little to expand the bag. You don't have to lock it at full expanded depth of the bag. You can just unhinge the locking mechanism and give yourself a 1/2 inch or an inch of additional depth if you need a little more space. It won't stay at exactly at that depth but the amount of clothes you have in the bag will ultimately determine how much it expands. Everything is sturdy and top quality. .......... lastly remember that this thing weighs about 11 lbs. It's not for my mom or for little weak dudes with tiny wrists who push around spinners with very tight pants. It's for frequent flyers who travel with a purpose.
